Vendor Highlight: Yoberri Gourmet – Serving Big Smiles (and Ice Cream Cones!)
If you’ve been to the 61st Street Farmers Market, chances are you’ve been greeted by Kim, owner of Yoberri Gourmet, with a big smile. For the past 12 years, Yoberri has been a sweet staple and community favorite, delighting market-goers with handcrafted frozen yogurt, ice cream, sorbet, and freshly made cold-pressed juices.
The inspiration for Yoberri Gourmet began in 2006, with one spoonful of plain frozen yogurt at a wedding in Italy. That taste instantly brought Kim back to her childhood and to the yogurt her European grandmother used to make. Two years later, as a college student with no business experience but plenty of determination, she opened Yoberri Gourmet in Lincoln Park. From the start, her commitment was simple: make every flavor in small batches with locally sourced ingredients, crafted to both surprise and comfort.
For Kim, farmers markets are about more than sharing dessert. They’re a chance to connect with neighbors, celebrate the seasons, and tell the story behind each scoop— the inspiration for a seasonal flavor, the farmer who grew the fruit, or the care that goes into every batch made from scratch.
Popular seasonal creations like blueberry lavender yogurt, mint with chocolate flecks ice cream, and lemon basil sorbet showcase the team’s creativity with peak-season produce. Vegan-friendly options are always on the menu, and there’s no shortage of fun new flavors—customers are even encouraged to suggest their dream cravings.
Their line of cold-pressed juices was born from a desire to use extra fruits and vegetables left after making their ice cream. Now market favorites like Morning Green, Raspberry Lemonade, Best Beets, and Activated Charcoal offer refreshing sips alongside the scoops.
Seventeen years ago, Yoberri Gourmet began with a memory. Today, it’s a mission to craft small-batch flavors that spark joy, support local growers and makers, and bring people together. Rooted in Chicago, Yoberri Gourmet is more than a dessert; it is a way to celebrate community and connection, one unforgettable scoop at a time.
