Vendor Spotlight: Pleasant House Pies Brings Royal Pies to the 61st Street Farmers Market

What do you get when you combine proud British heritage, fine dining chef skills, and a commitment to the 61st Street Farmers Market? You get Art and Chelsea Jackson’s award-winning Pleasant House Pub.

Established in 2011 and with a beloved Pilsen location since 2016, this local pub powerhouse specializes in savory meat and vegetable Royal Pies, sweet fruit and berry hand pies, and outstanding tomato and vegetable galettes. They often create their tasty seasonal hand pies and galettes using produce from farmers at the Market, showcasing the freshness and variety that our Market is known for.

Art and Chelsea founded Pleasant House Pub to bring their vision of the British pub experience to Chicago. At the center of it all is their continued dedication to unique, hand-crafted, chef-driven food that our Market community has enjoyed since 2012. As long-time vendors, Pleasant House understands the value of market spaces like ours, as well as the relationships that connect us to each other and our food.

“There's a saying that ‘what grows together, goes together’ and markets such as the 61st Street Market are living and breathing examples of this philosophy. You can taste, cook, smell, and discuss the fruits and labors of what our local land and those who work it have to offer.”
