Happy National Farmers Market Week

This Saturday marks the end of the 26th annual National Farmers Market Week, an annual celebration that highlights the vital role of farmers markets in our food system. To celebrate, we are sharing some reasons why our customers and vendors love 61st Street Farmers Market:

The Vendors

We host 31 vendors who come from Illinois, Michigan and Indiana to share the best local food our region has to offer. Many of our farming vendors are family farms who have passed down their farm for generations. Ellis Family Farms, Stamper Cheese, and Mint Creek have been with us since the start of our market in 2008, building relationships that have lasted 18 years.

Food Access

Our market is for everyone! Our Link Match program for SNAP/Link participants meets the vital needs of our community to access local, nutritious food when they need it most. This in turn makes our neighbors healthier, stimulates the local economy, and supports our farmers.

The Vibes

It's no secret that our community loves to hang out at the Market! Whether catching up with friends over a coffee and mandazi, or grabbing a picnic for the family to enjoy on the lawn, we provide a welcoming space for all to enjoy.

The Customers

If you ask our vendors what they love about our market, they’ll tell you — it’s the customers! Time and time again, our vendors share how friendly and loyal our community is. We show up no matter what — rain, wind, or snow — to support our vendors. They truly appreciate the support and camaraderie our community offers.

What are some of the reasons you love the 61st Street Farmers Market? Share them with us this Saturday when you stop by the Farmers Market Week tent, or by tagging us @61market on Facebook or Instagram.
