Green Top Grocery: Growing Community Through Link Match

Since 2017, Link Up Illinois has proudly partnered with Green Top Grocery, making fresh, healthy food accessible and affordable for SNAP participants throughout the Bloomington community.

As a community-owned cooperative grocery store, Green Top has demonstrated its commitment to community health and local farmers by offering organic, locally sourced products from day one. Their participation in the Link Match program has strengthened that mission.

In 2025, we recorded $18,000 in Link Match redemptions, representing a 50% increase over the year before. That translates to over $18,000 in fresh, healthy food for SNAP families and in support of local farmers and food producers.

While the numbers across the board are incredible, what warms our hearts is hearing positive feedback from both the store manager and customers.

“Link Match has transformed the way I shop at the co-op [Green Top]. This program not only encourages me to support my local grocery store, but it also provides my family with an abundance of fresh produce I wouldn't be getting otherwise,” a Green Top customer shared.

“At Green Top Grocery, we are really fortunate to be the only grocery store in Bloomington to have the Link Match program. We love that we are able to make an impact and bring fresh fruits and vegetables to homes that otherwise wouldn't have access," Bryce Skinner, Green Top’s Produce Manager. 

As the only grocery store in Bloomington currently participating in the Link Match program, we couldn’t be more excited to see redemptions increase every year. For us at Link Up Illinois, those numbers mean that individuals and families with SNAP access fresh, nutritious produce without having to choose between affordability and healthy eating.
