A Sweet Sendoff: Joe’s Blues & the Last Indoor Market

As we close out our final indoor market this Saturday and prepare to head outdoors May 16th, we’re proud to spotlight a longtime favorite in our market family, Joe’s Blues, our blueberry farmer.

Located in Southwest Michigan, Joe’s Blues was founded by first-generation farmer Joe Corrado. Since 2009, he has worked alongside his father, Frank, with a mission to restore and maintain blueberry fields—transforming often overlooked land into thriving, sustainable farms. His approach is intentional: growing blueberries without chemicals or pesticides while caring for the land every step of the way.

On and off season, Joe’s Blues offers a wide range of blueberry products. During peak season, they bring hundreds of pounds of fresh blueberries. Year-round, you can find their 100% blueberry juice—cold-pressed from frozen berries—along with jams, soaps and even kombucha. These products come out of his goal to create at least two uses from every blueberry. This aligns with his philosophy that nothing should go to waste.

With blueberry season approaching from late June through early August, Joe is already hard at work preparing for the busy months ahead. And he’s not stopping there. Joe is beginning a new chapter, applying the same approach to cranberries as he continues to grow his farm.

Farmers markets are at the heart of Joe’s business. He sells at 10 markets across Chicagoland and Michigan, building real connections with customers face to face. When asked what he would tell customers, Joe keeps it simple. “Keep showing up. Your support makes this work possible.”
