Bobby Wonderfull & Alysha Monique: A Tribute to Ella & Louis

Step into the golden era of jazz with Bobby Wonderfull and Alysha Monique, two powerhouse artists bringing timeless magic of Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong to life at SOUNDS LIKE JAZZ ‘25!

Bobby Wonderfull – A dynamic trumpeter, vocalist, and bandleader, Bobby’s rich, soulful tone and charismatic stage presence channel the spirit of Louis Armstrong with electrifying authenticity. His ability to blend classic jazz phrasing with a modern twist makes every performance unforgettable.

Alysha Monique – With a voice as smooth as velvet and a presence that commands the stage, Alysha Monique embodies the grace and brilliance of Ella Fitzgerald. Her impeccable phrasing, warm tone, and effortless scat singing breathe new life into the legendary jazz standards that defined a generation.

Together, they pay homage to one of jazz’s most iconic duos, capturing the heart and soul of Ella & Louis' timeless duets. From “Cheek to Cheek” to “Summertime”, their performance will transport you to an era of elegance, swing, and pure musical joy. Their 2024 album, “Ella & Louis: Reimagined,” is available everywhere.

TAP DANCER

Star Dixon is an assistant director, choreographer, and original principal dancer of world renowned tap company, MADD Rhythms. She has taught and performed at the most distinguished tap festivals in the country including The L.A. Tap Fest, DC Tap Fest, RIFF Dallas, Chicago Human Rhythm Project's Rhythm World, and MADD Rhythms own Chicago Tap Summit. She’s performed internationally in Poland, Japan, and Brazil to name a few. Performance venues include Jacob’s Pillow, Kennedy Center, and the Lincoln Center. Outside of MADD Rhythms, she's performed as a guest with such companies as Michelle Dorrance's Dorrance Dance and Savion Glover’s All Funk’d Up. Most recent awards include 3arts Make a Wave 2019, Chicago Dance Makers Forum lab artist 2022, Chicago Reader Best Dancer 2021 and Best Choreographer 2022.

Benjamin Barnes is the Entertainment Director of the Chicago Magic Lounge and was the producer and creator of the longest running magic show in Chicago history, Magic Chicago. In addition to his role as Entertainment Director at the Chicago Magic Lounge, he is a renowned performer of close-up magic.  He regularly appears at The Magic Castle in Hollywood, Jeff McBride’s Wonderground in Las Vegas and at upscale corporate events nationwide.

Just Steve is a lyricist, musician, and song writer who believes, “Music makes life beautiful.” Son of master percussionist Tony “TOCA” Carpenter, he blends hip-hop, poetry, gospel, and jazz into soulful, life-inspired songs. He’s collaborated with Chance the Rapper and many other Chicago musicians and artists, shared stages with India Arie, and performed on TLC, WCIU, and WGN. With deep musical roots and a dynamic stage presence, Just Steve creates music that moves and inspires.
