Five Generations Strong: Gorman Farm Fresh Produce

As you approach the corner of 61st Street and Blackstone Avenue, you see a long line of customers happily chatting and scooping up mounds of peppers, fall squash, greens, potatoes, tomatoes, and so much more. This can only be Gorman Farm Fresh Produce!

For Kevin and Molly Gorman, farming isn’t just a business—it’s a family tradition that’s been going strong in Monee, Illinois, since 1847. Kevin and Molly are fifth-generation farmers carrying on the legacy started by Kevin’s great-grandfather, who first homesteaded the land and raised everything from corn and soybeans to cattle and chickens.

Today, the Gormans have brought the farm full circle. In 2013, after years of running a landscaping business and selling Christmas trees in the winter, they decided to return to their roots—growing the high-quality produce that we all know and love. Their 16-acre farm now supplies a wide variety of vegetables, all cultivated using Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) that protect the land for future generations and provide our community with nutritious alternatives to mass-produced food.

For our very last outdoor market of the season, make sure to stock up on the Gormans’ always-generous selection of fresh, locally grown produce—and look for them at our indoor markets starting November 1!
