61st Street Farmers Market Moves Outdoors May 17 — and Calls on the Community for Support

In just two weeks, the 61st Street Farmers Market will be kicking off its 18th outdoor season—and we couldn't be more excited! On Saturday, May 17, we will be back outside on 61st Street to launch the 2025 market season.

We’ve got 32 amazing vendors lined up this year, including some longtime favorites like Mint Creek Farm, Ellis Family Farms, and Gorman Farm Fresh Produce. Plus, we will be welcoming some new vendors too–there will be something for everyone, every Saturday. Stay tuned–the new vendors will be revealed soon!

When it began 18 years ago, the Market had just ten vendors and 150 customers. Today, we average over 2,200 customers each market day—that's a 37.5% jump from last year alone! We've also made it easier than ever for SNAP (Link) recipients to access fresh, healthy food. With the Link Match program, SNAP recipients can double their buying power at our market.

All this growth is thanks to you. Our wonderful community of shoppers, neighbors, and supporters—you’ve helped us build something really special, and we’re so grateful.

Of course, growing comes with its own challenges. As the Market has expanded, so have our expenses. At the same time, federal funding has disappeared. A few weeks ago, our Executive Director, Connie, shared that we are facing a $45,000 budget gap.

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $13,779—but we still need to close the remaining $31,221.

If you love the fresh produce, the friendly faces, and the sense of community the 61st Street Farmers Market brings to the South Side, please consider donating today. Every dollar truly helps us keep the Market thriving.

to support your Market and help us keep going strong.
