It’s summer—and Happy Pride Month!

To celebrate, Common Threads is screening the award-winning documentary Paris Is Burning. This landmark film reminds us that queer people are not defined by trauma or by society’s ideas of what is normal. Instead, the queens of the 1980s Harlem drag-ball scene show what it means to speak, create, and live authentically without waiting for acceptance from a world that often overlooks them.

Don’t miss this special screening. Come dressed in your favorite camp outfit and celebrate Pride Month with us. Be sure to RSVP to receive event reminders.

About Ground Rules

Ground Rules is Experimental Station’s year-long series of social gatherings designed to bring neighbors together through conversations, collaboration, and play. Each event creates a warm, welcoming space where community members can slow down, connect, and engage with one another in meaningful ways.

From film nights and community bread bakes to interactive workshops and game nights, Ground Rules encourages civility, curiosity, and joyful participation.
