All Ages Bike Workshops: Feb. 19 - Mar. 19

Blackstone Bicycle Works will be offering evening bicycle mechanics classes for all ages this February and March. You can sign-up here!
The classes will be held on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8pm. The first class is on February 19th and will cover all the basic maintenance topics. The next four classes will cover different parts of the bicycle in greater depth. Each class is $25, and you get $10 off if you sign up for all four 'Understanding' classes.

MLK Day of Service Volunteers Spruce Up the Bikeshop

On Saturday, January 19th, seven undergraduate volunteers from the University of Chicago were dispatched to Blackstone Bicycle Works to help with renovation projects. They were among nearly 200 University students and staff participating in the MLK Day of Service, an annual event planned by the University Community Service Center in memory of the civil rights leader's birth.

Blackstone Bikes 25%-Off Sale

Blackstone Bicycle Works, our community bike shop and youth education program, continues its WINTER BIKE SALE. This Saturday, December 17, we will be selling all of our excellent selection of refurbished bikes at a 25% discount! We have Treks, Schwinns, a Peugeot, a Raleigh, and other great brands, in great shape and ready to ride. We also have bikes for kids. In addition, when you purchase a bicycle, we will give you a coupon for a 20% discount on a full tuneup on any bike, valid from January thru March 2012.

Help Meet the Blackstone Bikes Matching Grant - $63 to go!

UPDATE: Thank you, Eve, for the final push! With everyone's generous support, we completed the matching grant in just over a year.

An anonymous foundation pledged a $15,000 matching grant for donations to Blackstone Bicycle Works, and we are only $63 away from receiving the full pledge! Thank you, Kathleen, for your recent donation of $20, and thanks to everyone who has contributed (from California to New York to our own backyard).

Q: How do I find Blackstone Bicycle Works?
A: We're located in the Experimental Station building, 6100 S Blackstone, in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. Approach from the west on 61st Street. Turn right down the short spur that is Blackstone Ave. The bikeshop extrance is the big gate on the right-hand side of the street, with a large hand-painted sign. The directions page has a map.
