Blackstone Bicycle Works, the Experimental Station's youth education program and community bike shop, is preparing to deal off dozens of used and vintage bikes Saturday, September 15, at the nearby University of Chicago campus. Returning students, Southside locals or anyone else can catch serious deals on a multi-generational stock of road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids and town cruisers from 10am-2pm in front of the Regenstein Library, located on 57th Street between University and Ellis. Both budget and higher-end models will be made available, as well as locks, helmets and lights to complete your cycling setup.Our ecologically minded recyclery refurbishes used bikes for the Southside community, while providing a healthy after-school environment for at-risk kids in Woodlawn. As always, all proceeds from the sale go to support Blackstone's youth program.Blackstone will also unveil its new line of Breezer folding and town bikes for prospective buyers to take on a test ride around the quad.
